It's a little bitter. We actually only ate the young stalks. The berries are poisonous. So are the leaves, but they are commonly consumed after being boiled at least three times. I don't much like the idea of boiling leaves three times in order to eat them.
I do like dandelion greens in salads, though. Like arugula, but plentiful and free...

Sounds like an awful lot of trouble to keep from poisoning oneself.
True, dandelion greens are readily available. Of course, you have to be sure someone hasn't treated your harvest area with weed-killer, or you're back to boiling poke. ;-)
